Boy does 2 hours go by quickly. I only got 2 hours before having to get out of bed for broadcast. I got 45 min of sleep yesterday. Only reason why Iʻm not more deathly tired is because Iʻm in a different place. So up outta bed I go. Hereʻs what is up for today, and some of the people that will help to make it happen... G Cruz is the Program Director and Midday Personality of KWXX-FM here in Hilo, Hawaiʻi. Courtesy of General Manager Chris Leonard, we are broadcasting out of Gavin Cruzʻs office. So poor Gavin has to come in to be engineer for me so I can be on the air. Big Thanks to Gavin because he has saved me several times this trip just because I was just stupid in my packing. I always pride myself on having EVERYTHING tech that I could possibly use. There are a few things I forgot this trip. GCruz should be wearing a cape and tights for being the superhero of the trip. At KWXX-FM, there are a few people that I have had a pleasure of working with in some capacity of another. First there is the morning show team of Kat and Keala. Kat is a beautiful woman and talented. Really sweet. Wish I got more chances to talk story with her. I believe she used to work at I-94 in Honolulu. I would probably be in early to work every day.......*sigh* :) Keala is awesome. Tall hawaiian man that should have sunglasses surgically placed. He never goes anywhere without them. OCCASIONALLY he takes them off during the show. He speak Hawaiian, does morning radio and is a member of the Contemporary Hawaiian Recording Group "Sudden Rush", who is coming out with a new release in the next couple of months. Put the two together, and theyʻre a lot of fun to listen to in the morning. DC is Darrin Carlson who works at B-97 and B-93 in Hilo, playing all kinds of music, mostly focusing on Classic Hits. He has his own blogs, follows and is on twitter, has the Brainbuster Question, Mike Evans who also works with me on KGMB9, Music Master Challenge and more. Reminds me of Rick Dees. Super Nice guy. See him every morning looking like heʻs drank 4 cups of coffee, and thatʻs him just regular with no caffeine. At least not that I know of. All of these people, along with the wonderful Ken Hupp (who also used to work on the old 1420 KCCN AM) are part of this wonderful ʻohana of radio people here in Hilo that Iʻve had the pleasure to work with. After I got out of broadcast, headed right over to get Loco Moco and back to where the halau was. It was very lax, since we had no entrant for Miss Aloha Hula. So tonight it was head over to the Tennis stadium and to enjoy the show.
