It was announced at a press conference held at "The Kahala" hotel by A&E television and Duane "Dog" Chapman and his wife Beth; The resumption of the popular reality television series has been announced. Also in attendance was Niger Innis from the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), and A&E Television Network executives. Filming has begun on the fifth season, with reruns of the show will starting on June 25, with new episodes coming a few weeks later. Some shows that were not shown from Season four will be shown as well. The show features Dog and his crew chasing down bail jumpers. He was taken off the air in November when Dog was heard in a taped phone conversation using a racial slur in reference to his son's girlfriend, who is African-American. “Dogʻs use of the racial slur was wrong,” said Niger Innis, national chairman of the Congress of Racial Equality, He also said Dog "took ownership of the harm it caused" and "sought to turn his life around." His wife, Beth vowed it would not set them back. "We're Chapmans, and we're fighters, and brother, we're not going to settle in our setbacks. We're going to have a comeback." |
