Willie K. Uncle Willie K is the only active volcano on Maui. He was raised in Lahaina and has performed for audiences since the age of 10, playing with his father, Hawaiian Jazz legend Manu Kahaiali’i. He is also one-half of the Na Hoku Hanohano Award Winning Barefoot Natives. Influenced by a myriad of genres, (Jazz, R&B, Reggae, Rock, Country, Blues, Salsa and Hawaiian), Willie K possesses one of the largest music vocabularies of any artist in the world. He plays classic covers and inspired originals with soulful, heartfelt vocals and stylistic guitar flourishes that have become his trademark. His energetic and hypnotizing performances often brought people to tears to cheering and screaming in their seats for more...often in the same performance. As a Hawai'i Recording Artist, Willie K.'s release "Kahaiali'i" immediately burned up the music charts as his first album went ballistic. Almost every song became a hit and staple of radio stations throughout Hawai'i, and Willie K. enjoyed a new found popularity in the mainstream of music in the islands, becoming a stone pillar in Contemporary AND Traditional music. The charismatic singer/songwriter/producer changed the direction of contemporary Hawaiian music in the nineties with a series of recordings that earned him several Na Hoku Hanohano Awards. In 2004 Willie K was nominated for a Grammy® in the first-ever Hawaiian music category. Willie K. Willie K has shared the stage with such legends as B.B. King, Santana, Willie Nelson, Prince, Elvin Bishop, Bonnie Raitt, George Benson and Jimmy Buffet, to name a few. In 2004, he was invited to perform on national television for the NFL Pro Bowl halftime show. Willie K is an international star whose touring sends him around the globe. More than anything, his infectious love of music translates universally to his love of life – he embodies the “aloha” spirit. Willie K also runs a successful entertainment company, Maui Tribe Productions. With partner Eric Gilliom, the Barefoot Natives released a critically acclaimed self-titled debut CD “Barefoot Natives” in 2006.
