Cyril Pahinui has put out his Na Hoku Hanohano award winning release back on the market after not having it on hand for years. This is a WONDERFUL release that needs to be added to the CD collection. Recorded with his brother Bla Pahinui... This was recorded from July 5 to October 6, 1988 at Dolphin Studios by Jim Linkner, the same studios and Producer that brought us Keali'i Reichel in the '90's. Cyril has a rich sound that is so identifiable with his family and his father, Gabby Pahinui. This is a wonderful mixture of contemporary and traditional Hawaiian music. Bla Pahinui is also on this release with him. Bla loves the studio, but not necessarily the public performances. His addition to this release is just as wonderful, and it should be noted that the Pahinui Brothers release was also a great release. Alaska Rose is a driving song that takes us up North, Po Mahina is a song about the full moon that has a sweet soft sound. Makuakane (Song for Pops) evokes emotion. This is a release that needs to be added into the hawaiian music collection. Favorite song off of this cd:"Po Mahina" - I loved this song from the first time I heard it. The harmonies, the guitars, the ease of this song to surround you and carry you to see a full moon outside.
